Is War Inevitable? (#2)

Is war inevitable? Will violent fighting always exist? The short answer, yes, war will always exist. We cannot transcend conflict amongst ourselves because human desire is constantly morphed and altered. The needs and wants of one particular group of people at a particular point in time will never be precisely equivalent to that of another particular group of people at a particular point in time, so there must be some form of conflict. Not to mention that even within those groups of people, individuals amongst themselves will often have differing opinions or ideals than those who they align themselves with so once again there is room for conflict. Now that's not to say that every time two people at a staff meeting disagree over the color of napkins that should be used at the faculty party there's going to be an all out brawl, or even that any confrontation at will break out, the two parties could easily work things out peacefully and move on, but on a global level when the disagreement is over far more significant stakes, both the possibility and the severity of conflict increases 1,000 fold, or in the case of WWII, 60 million fold. Unfortunately the only way in which war could ever become extinct was if everyone in the world, man, women, and child all shared the exact same ideals as the rest of the human population. This sadly is a fate that has no feasible chance of ever becoming reality, at least not in the foreseeable future of mankind. What we can do however is instead, try our best to reduce global conflict as to stop the need for war, and a good place to start would be the potential abolition of world religion to ease pious tensions (primarily in the middle east), however that is a topic that warrants another blog for another day.
