#2 Why Syria Matters

I can honestly say that most Americans have probably heard something about the conflict in Syria. Some question it more than others, but why should it matter to us. Why are we so afraid to ask who cares? This conflict can greatly impact the U.S. For starters any type of conflict would debilitate our economy. The debt is through the roof, and we cannot afford to get involved in another conflict. Don`t forget the Iraq war which had an estimated cost of around 1 trillion dollars. Trillion with a t not an m or b but a T.Also  Syria produces a supply of oil to the U.S, violence in Syria could affect global oil speculation and prices. That affects how much American consumers pay at the pump. Nobody can afford to have gas reach the astronomical prices it might be.

So while we think of this conflict as someone else`s problem or "wow how unfortunate, Good thing i`m not in the Middle East". Think about all the ways it will affect the U.S. The place you live.It might sound a bit egocentric but there is much more to a war than it appears. Not only are Americans lives risked but the many things we take for granted can collapse. It is a much larger scale battle than just oil. The effects can be disastrous for our nation as a whole. We must combat terrorism and conflicts in a way that can benefit the will of the majority.
